Chlamydia Treatments

Chlamydia is usually easily treated with antibiotics. You may receive a single dose or a prescription for oral antibiotics to take for 5 to 10 days. Be sure to finish all of your antibiotics to get rid of the infection, or it may become resistant to antibiotic treatment.

Your physician may conduct a follow-up test to make sure the infection is gone. You and your partner should both be tested and treated for chlamydia.

Treatment for chlamydia does not protect you from getting infected in the future if you have unprotected sex with someone who is infected.
