General Surgery

Adolescent Bariatric Surgery

For severely obese adolescents who meet strict criteria, bariatric surgery may be the appropriate solution for weight loss. A team that includes a pediatrician, pediatric surgeon, bariatric coordinator, physical therapist, psychologist, social worker and registered dietitian creates a customized treatment plan and provides medical and surgical care to address the different causes and effects of obesity.

Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery

Lurie Children’s cardiovascular-thoracic surgeons work closely with cardiologists and neonatologists to determine the necessity and timing of surgery to repair congenital and acquired heart lesions such as patent ductus arteriosus in the neonatal period.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Our orthopaedic surgery specialists treat congenital and developmental deformities of the spine (scoliosis, kyphosis), shoulder, arm, forearm, hand, pelvis and hip (dysplasia, Legg-Perthes disease), as well as clubfoot, limb-length inequalities, skeletal dysplasia and musculoskeletal trauma. 

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Specialists in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department offer services such as bone grafting, wisdom teeth extraction, facial trauma treatment, jaw surgery, oral pathology, dental implants and sleep apnea treatment.
