On Patient Care . . .
“I make sure that patients are partners in their own care. By spending time with my patients and getting to know them, I can understand what a successful outcome means for them. Our professional guidelines will determine things like who needs a surgery and who doesn’t, but we can’t know the ultimate benefit of a particular course of treatment without the patient’s input. I love my work, but seeing a patient get better is what’s really gratifying.”
On Being Part of the MOI Team . . .
“MOI is geared toward helping us all do what we do best. You’re unlikely to see a group of sub-specialists like this anywhere, except perhaps the large academic medical centers. We have specialists in nearly every area of orthopaedic care, right here in DeKalb. As a shoulder and elbow specialist, I’m continually able to hone my skills and take advantage of the advances in my area. At the same time, I know that my colleagues in other areas are doing the same thing. I can make direct referrals to people who are at the top of their field. The result is the best possible treatment and care for our patients.”
When I’m not Practicing Medicine . . .
“I love spending time with my wife. She’s a physician too, and we don’t have a lot of time together. We like to travel, and I’m learning to fly fish. We also have our first child on the way, so we’re looking forward to being parents.”
