Our Story

In 1972, before the era of open MRIs, hip replacement, and arthroscopic surgery, Midwest Orthopaedic Institute brought the first orthopaedic physicians to DeKalb County. Since then, MOI has continued to recruit the finest orthopaedic specialists in the country. All of the orthopaedic specialists currently practicing at MOI are further distinguished by having completed fellowships in sub-specialties, placing them at the highest levels of their profession.

These highly trained physicians anchor MOI’s “Centers of Excellence,” which focus respectively on the areas of Foot and Ankle, Hip and Knee, Shoulder and Elbow, Hand and Wrist, Sports Injuries, and Joint Replacement. MOI has added to this list by recruiting a full-time Rheumatologist to serve the needs of our community’s seniors, and others who may be faced with the challenges of arthritis.

Because comprehensive care requires both excellent physicians and state-of-the-art resources, MOI has continued to expand its facilities over the years and to acquire the most sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic equipment available. Below are just a few of the services available to our patients:

All of our physicians have earned world-class credentials, but they never forget the importance of a down-home bedside manner.

After nearly four decades, Midwest Orthopaedic Institute continues to be a place where excellence and a caring attitude come together.

Located in Sycamore, Illinois, Midwest Orthopaedic Institute has been committed to providing exceptional orthopaedic care to residents of DeKalb, IL, and the surrounding areas for decades. When we brought the first orthopaedic specialist to DeKalb County, our subspecialty practice has continued to grow. Over the years, we’ve recruited some of the best and brightest physicians to the community, all of whom offer a unique combination of world-class credentials.

Every orthopaedic doctor at Midwest Orthopaedic Institute has extensive skills and focused experience in his or her area of specialty. This means that our patients can count on receiving an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment from an orthopaedic specialist who has the refined expertise necessary to effectively treat a specific part of the body’s complex musculoskeletal system. For instance, MOI has centers of excellence that are dedicated to treating conditions and injuries of the spine, hand and wrist, foot and ankle, hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow.

While many of the outstanding physicians at MOI are also talented orthopaedic surgeons, our philosophy is to provide the most conservative form of treatment possible for arthritis, fractures, tendonitis, rotator cuff and ACL tears, and other musculoskeletal conditions. Most patients do very well with non-surgical treatment for neck and back pain and other symptoms, using conservative measures like physical therapy and medications. However, if a patient requires surgery, a highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon at MOI can perform carpal tunnel surgery, a knee or hip replacement procedure, a conventional or reverse shoulder replacement, or another highly complex surgical procedure, such as minimally invasive spine surgery or microscopic neurosurgery.

You don’t have to allow the discomfort of a sports-related injury or musculoskeletal condition to affect your quality of life.
