Education and Background…

Clayton has been an athletic trainer since 1995.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with minors in Athletic Training and Psychology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 1994.  He is board certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Board of Certification and licensed by the state of Illinois.  Clayton is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2002.  He joined the MOI Rehabilitation team in 2008.  Clayton has a background in providing healthcare for athletes from the elementary school level to the collegiate level.  He serves as an Accredited Clinical Instructor (ACI) for the Athletic Training Education Program at Northern Illinois University since 2009.  As an ACI, Clayton supervises athletic training students with learning the skills needed to become credentialed professionals.  He has also overseen the Work Conditioning Program at MOI.  The Work Conditioning Program is aimed at returning the injured worker to his or her job after participating in a formal rehabilitation program for a specific injury and or has been off of a work for an extended period of time.  The ultimate goal is to educate the injured worker so there is the decreased potential for re-injury.  Clayton participates in continuing education programs in a variety of areas but his specialty interest involves running injuries.  He performs a running gait analysis for runners as part of the return to running program.

Working with Runners….

“Whether it is working with an accomplished runner or a recreational runner, the ultimate goal is to return to running without pain and prevent re-injury.  This is accomplished by educating the runner on strengthening, mobility, form and technique, running shoes, and training.”

The MOI Team Approach…

“At MOI, we have an excellent relationship with our physicians.  The best outcome for the patient is achieved when the physician, clinician, and patient are all on the same page working toward the same goal.  At MOI we have excellent access to our physicians, likely better than any other clinic in the area.”

“I am here to be your resource and do whatever is necessary to help you reach your goals.”
