On working in an outpatient facility
I really enjoy working at MOI because it’s an outpatient facility. In my career, I’ve worked in a lot of therapy settings, from in-house rehabilitation to skilled nursing and management, but my love has always been outpatient orthopaedics. In this environment, I get to watch patients transform from having joint trouble and never getting to do the things they love to do, to getting back to living a more fulfilling life.
On the role of a Physical Therapist Assistant
I work directly under the Physical Therapist, and he or she does the patient evaluation and sets up the plan of care. Then I come in and work with the patient from evaluation to discharge. Of course, along the way I constantly interact with the Physical Therapist on that case, and we work together to make sure the patient will get the best outcome we can achieve.
